Ed King, railroader on the N&W, SCL, Rock Island, CNW, and CP, as well as author of more than 200 articles died in Florida on July 10, 2026 at the age of 90. Obituaries have been published in Trains and the Arrow, the magazine of the N&W Historical Society. |

His TRAINS article about his days with the Rock Island passenger department was a classic. I remember his tale of a woman running after a departing train: “Ma’am, thank you for chasing that train out of here. I’ve been trying to get it to leave all afternoon!” Or something like that. |
