| Post subject: | Another sad loss of old friends |
Good day to all . I find it difficult to again have to report on the loss of one of our friends. Not one, but two this time. Peter Replinger of Shelton, WA passed a short time ago. He had been a lifelong resident of that community and as a kid, remembered seeing some steam on the logging railroad before it turned to diesel. When he was just of enough age, he hired out on the Simpson Tbr. Co. line and spent many years there, mostly as an engineer. Pete also was a locomotive dealer for a time and had at least one model of the rare EMD NW-5. He was also a historian with several written works published and an air horn collector. Pete and I knew each other since 1967 and never had a cross word between us. Pete was in his early 80s. More recently, we also lost Bill Kohler, Bill was known to this forum as he sometimes published news about the Rail Camp activities in Carson City, NV for youngsters. Like Pete, Bill was also in his early 80s. born in July of 1945. He grew up and worked in the San Jose area of CA and later moved to Gardnerville, NV. Bill was one of those guys who could always brighten your day, I never saw him with a scowl on his face or a bad attitude. He was most generous and a fine host along with his wife Pam when they had houseguests. Bill was a regular at Winterail for many years, that's where I met him. I valued our friendship and will miss both of these gents. Tom Moungovan |
