Pennsylvania G5s 1844 was sold for scrap in February of 1955.

Long Island Rail Road 39 was NOT. It’s time to rebuild and restore her.
Along with Oyster Bay Rail Road Museum’s G5s #35, these two historic locomotives pulled the final passenger trains under steam power. While 35 is being restored and reassembled for rolling display, 39’s boiler waits at the Strasburg Railroad, ready for the repairs that will see her steaming for at least 50 years before returning to Long Island.
