This is difficult! I am in need of any drawings available for the FM two-axle trucks featuring the drop-equalizer bars. These first were developed for C-Liner cab units, and became part of the Phase 1 H16-44 Diesels.

I am constructing a 1/8th scale model FM Diesel locomotive with the same Raymond Loewy styled "art deco" car body as the H15-44's which preceded them. H15's had AAR Type "B"trucks, similar to those on many ALCOs.

I've scoured the net and have written to Lake States Railway Historical Association, but without scaring up the specific truck illustrations. I'm hoping a private collector may have what I need. Scanned as PDF's or JPG's will work fine!

Thank you!

Here's a thought.... I think Rapido was the latest model manufacturer to produce a fairly accurate H16-44. They also appear to have used the correct trucks. Try contacting them to see if they either have drawings or can point you in the right direction. Might be worth a shot.

Thank you for your response and suggestion, Eric. I contacted Rapido when I built my 1/8th scale FA1 and they refused to offer information. I'll give it another go for the H16-44. Perhaps another view stands ready to offer assistance.
In the meantime, I'm hoping someone with papers in a manila envelope, tucked in a filing cabinet in the basement, might read this request!

Do you have the book by David Sweetland on C-Liners?

I have that book as well as several others focused on FM units. Like I say, this is a tough one! I have all manner of H-16-44 and H15-44 elevation drawings, but when retirement came for those units, I guessing most of the plans, drawings, and specs went into the company's burn pile. I am hoping somebody with foresight Filled the back of his pickup and stashed them in his barn or basement.

Preston: That's more than I've gotten so far! Thank you!

Incidentally, I did contact Rapido model trains again and they, once again, turned me down as proprietary information and policy is not to share.

Preston: Thank you so much for that donation of docs in the zipfile. I provides more information and clarity than I've received to date. I likewise appreciate the wonderful images from your personal collection. Maybe I'm pushing a bit, but do you have a specific drawing of the FM drop equalizer bar for the 1600 h.p. unit?

Preston, do you have the plans for FM road switcher hoods, including the TM? A second question: was there a common supplier that produced hoods for FM, EMD, Alco, etc? I believe I heard that there was.

There were a few diagrams of truck and hood components in the parts books, but they are all at Barriger library now. They were in glue bindings and there was no practical way to make page copies prior to donating them.

EMD built most of their own hoods but occasionally contracted out for non-standard or specialty fabricated items.
