I am in desperate need for ANY info regarding the Fairbanks Morse Model 101 motorcars/speeders. I have only been able to find sales pamphlets that have been sent to me or advertisements from old issues of the Signalmans Journal. They are incredibly unique cars that were built with a 2-stroke single engine that traveled horizontally to the cars direction. Additionally they had a four speed "transmission" which fed to a chain drive. The transmission was removed from my car before I purchased it so I have no clue what it looks like.

I have gone over the deep end trying to pinpoint mechanical info on these cars. I contacted Daryl Wright who was the individual that gathered the Fairbanks Morse Motorcar archives and brought them to the Sue Silliman Museum in Three Rivers, MI. He says the Sue Silliman museum does not have any manuals for them. I managed to get ahold of an individual who had a spare parts manual for the Model 101 and I now have a photocopy along with an engine manual for different Fairbanks Morse Motorcar manuals but not the one in the Model 101. I have tried Google Books, The Wayback Machine, old email addresses, and even found people on Facebook messaging them to see if they have more info. Almost all of them i have come up empty handed. I am now coming to RYPN to see if maybe SOMEONE will have a little more info or photos. If I cannot find more info I might just need to find it a new home which would be a shame.

Do you know what the engine model number is? I found a lot more manuals and so forth but they are listed by engine model. None of this may help you, I'm sure a lot of it is stuff you already know:

There was apparently one at the Michigan Transit Museum 24 years ago, is that the one you have? viewtopic.php?t=1382

There is a book entitled "Fairbanks Morse: 100 Years of Engine Technology" by C.H. Wendell https://laurelleaffarm.com/products/vin ... 412116.htm $65 used on Amazon right now, looks to not be detailed.

This link has some good stuff, not sure if it is your engine but there are links to other FM motorcar engines: https://www.smokstak.com/forum/threads/ ... el.138431/

Here is the parts manual you mentioned: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... 1824668190

Sales brochure: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... 1824666880

Marine engines, could there be crossover applications? https://oldtacomamarine.com/engines/fai ... nuals.html

If you can give me an engine model number I can be more specific.

Hello I have 2 FM model 101 motorcars, also have some extra parts for my cars attached pictures of the drive.

The older 40b motorcars used a square shaft for the drive the 101 used a spline shaft like buda motorcars. Does your car use the Linkert carb?

Yes, my car utilizes a Linkert carburetor and off the top of my head I believe it is a model M1B.

Do you have any more photos of the Model 101 drive? I have never seen a photo of a complete drive in it's entirety. I am missing one of the two levers that I believe connected to part of the spline shaft you describe. What were the functions of both levers? I have been unable to determine that myself.

Yes, my car is M861 from the Michigan Transit Museum.

The brochure and spare parts manual you have listed I have archived on my site and can be found in the Fairbanks Morse section. https://michiganrrarchive.blogspot.com/ ... nuals.html

I do not have the engine model, that is still something I am trying to figure out
