Post subject:  Request Suggestions for Forum Software

I have had enough of trying to manage a phpBB system. (The one I had on steamlocomotive.info). Can anyone recommend good forum software with decent management features? I doesn't have to be freeware, I actually have a pretty decent budget for this.

Xenforo.
I used Vbulletin for years, but they went to crap.
I run several Xenforo forums.
I’ve also repeatedly offered to take this one over.

Bob thank you for the suggestion. I'll take a look at that software momentarily. As for RyPN I'm not even a moderator anymore (my choice). I wish them well, and I still occassionally get good information from RyPN so I'm still here. Kinda.

Regards,
Doug

Doug,

Who holds the access to RyPN software? I thought it was you?!?

And how do we find him to surrender the proverbial keys to RyPN?

If the forum software needs to change, and it appears that is true, then I am not against it if it proves to be stable. I hope to see it go to a forum such as that used by WW&F or Chaski's Home Machinist (The same system?). These have been working for a long time and show promise.

Critical in the transition is preserving whatever remains of messages on this forum. Its an archive that is rare and incomparable.
O.
