Hi I just found this out, the group that handles AT&SF # 3751 might just have to find a new location for the locomotive.. The locomotive is currently stored at ReDondo Jct at the current Amtrak facility, which stores the locomotive indoors and well out of the weather. According to certain sources Amtrak is planning on raising the rent where the locomotive is stored in California. The caretakers of the locomotive are looking to find another location for the locomotive hopefully before it loses it current location.. I saw this post on another trusted web site and I thought I would pass it along here.. Maybe someone from the group that takes care of the locomotive can add more to this?? |

Apparently there’s been a lot of chatter that the other tool cars (SBRX 3463 and 1161) have been relocated from Redondo Junction. |

The 3751 is not stored indoors at Redondo - it's stored outdoors on a stub track and can be seen when riding the Amtrak Surfliner south of LA. Last year I was part of the photo event in the Amtrak yard and Amtrak does fill the other stub tracks so it's not like Amtrak is just raising the rent for fun. For historic reasons alone - I hope the 3751 can continue to live at Redondo, but if the organization can find or build a better home - it could be great to allow more visitors to see her. The 4449 and 700's new home in Portland is a great example. |
