Happy Friday to all of you!

Our shops have been kept busy over the last six months and we've had some new arrivals recently too.

Enjoy the updates!

File comment: Finished driving boxes for Southern 722 before they were shipped back to GSMR. The setting dates the picture well, note 90's pilot in the background.

File comment: Starting at Esbenshade Crossing and working roughly a half a mile east our roadway department oversaw the replacement of ties, tamping and re-ballasting of track.

File comment: Part of the work done around Esbenshade with the tie replacement, naturally, was the re-paving of the grade crossing after the trackwork was completed.

File comment: As many folks know late in 2024 the Railroaders Memorial Museum of Altoona asked us to come on board with FMW solutions to help with 1361's restoration. Here we see one of the driver sets having the journals machined. Next up is the driving boxes.

File comment: Here is an upright view of 722's firebox, door sheet and rear flue sheet tack welded together. Shortly after this the assembly will be test fitted for alignment and drilling for the rivets will take place.

File comment: Restoration of our PRR F30a flat car was completed as well. Pending FRA approval we hope to enter this car into MoW service and make it available for photo charters as well.

File comment: Quite a bit of work is being done to our N&W M class 475 this summer. One item on the list is the replacement and machining of the L4 tire.

File comment: In April our own #90 returned to service after her 1472 SDI. Our shop crews did an excellent job on her. Quite a bit was done, especially centered around the valves. One engineer commented "I've ran this engine for 35 years and never felt it with that much power."

File comment: Southern 722's firebox has been temporarily put into place while drilling for the mud ring rivets takes place and proper alignment is checked.

File comment: Recently Chesapeake and Ohio 614 was delivered to us as well as this Case 65 Traction engine. 614 is here for a planned rebuild and return to service while the traction engine will be having the boiler and firebox inspected.

Thanks, Tim. Glad to see these shop reports back. These and the 557 group reports are among my favorites here.

Never a dull moment at the Strasburg, and always something progressive.

They are NOT forging the threads, they are forging the rounded head of the bolt.
