I'm reading on trainorders and Facebook that Wes Camp has passed away:

He certainly had an enthusiasm for steam (and knowledge as well).
Condolences to his loved ones.

This hit me like a ton of bricks this morning, much like the passing of Bob Kreiger. Both men had a lot of steam experience but were genuinely nice guys who were more than willing to share their experience and expertise, to explain in layman’s terms to the common railfan the hows and whys of steam. Wes seemed to possess a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of the intricacies of valve gear timing, tramming, firing rates and combustion etc gained through years of experience and no doubt a lot of reading and studying the subject. I’m sad that he never got to see the 5550 run, but I know he passed with the knowledge that the project was well on its way and would succeed in the end. God speed Wes, may all your signals be high greens, with a light haze at the stack and the throttle in the company notch.

RIP Wes. He was taking care of new projects to the very end and that’s how he would have wanted it, though I so wish he’d have seen 5550 run. Sad to see him go, but glad beyond words to have known him.

Wes was a dear friend who will be sorely missed. His lifelong love of mainline steam and his devotion to sharing his extensive hands on experience with everyone was his trademark.

He always made time especially for newcomers who were eager to learn, and was totally unselfish in that regard.

RIP dear friend and thanks for all the memories. Ross Rowland

It is with regret we announce we lost one of our longest running supporters and technical resources, Wes Camp today. Wes was by our side in the early years when no one thought we would ever pull it off. Thank you for believing in us!
Wes you will be missed!!!"
