quote: "Where do subway cars go to die? Most are scrapped, while some are preserved for historical and educational purposes. The New York Transit Museum, housed in a decommissioned station in Downtown Brooklyn, has several retired cars that are part of its vintage fleet and which are occasionally brought out for nostalgia rides." |

The New York Transit museum is a great place to visit - the subway cars are all open so you can step on board and have a seat and really "feel" the history. They have old wooden cars, Pullman built cars, all the way up to almost present day. The nostalgia rides sell out really fast, but I took one years ago and it was so much fun. |
