Oregon Railway & Navigation 197 is nearing completion of its restoration

Quote:
work on the locomotive’s boiler was “95 percent” complete and that new tubes and flues were on the way for installation

Can't wait to see her operating

That's good news! I think she is an attractive engine and will be great for their holiday trains, etc.

Wow, Nice, I hope I see UP3203 to run on the track in Portland, OR.

95% complete...

but...wait...
no flues?
no tubes?
obviously no superheater...
= only 5% of boiler work...so funny.

The 95% must be a done
with a new boiler made from cryptonit
and riveted by virgins and elfs...

Looking forward to ride the UP3203 sometimes during my lifetime.

;-)

That guy must be writing some big checks from his foundation...

will be a neat engine to see under steam.
I think it makes sense to wait as long as possible to put in tubes/flues to keep the clock from ticking. if they are nearly done with everything but that, they are in a good spot and not burning flue time like 2926 for years before being "actually done".
