Does anybody know if either The Silver Streak 1935 or White Desert 1922 were ever issued on DVD?

If you just want to watch it, The Silver Streak is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LTbay8TZhM and better quality on Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/silver-streak-1935

Don't know White Desert, I'll have to look out for it.

I can't find White Desert anywhere on the planet. I don't think that's ever been converted to a digital format or if good copies of the film exist.

Silver Streak is out there but if you're looking for something in high resolution, that's gonna be a rough nut to crack. This site has it available on DVD: https://dvdlady.com/dvd/the-silver-streak-1934-starring-burlington-zephyr-on-dvd/. I know nothing about this site so user beware. Keep in mind that DVD has a maximum resolution of only 480p and the quality of the video is also dependent on the quality of the conversion.

Not sure but I think Youtube uses the H.264/MPEG-4 format which provides for a higher available resolution but then again, it's also dependent on the quality of the conversion so you'd need to look at each upload to see if any are better than others. And you need a paid account to avoid constant commercials.

I think TCM has this movie in their catalog and I'd assume it's going to be at a pretty good resolution so you might try contacting them. Don't get your hopes up, though.

While looking for a copy of "White Desert", the IMDB had 2 reviews by folks who claimed to have seen it around 2000 in the Denver Paramount Theatre. Obviously at that time there was a theatrical print available, either in 35 or 16mm. Also could have been a digital copy. I checked the Denver Public Library on line catalog, nothing exists there.
Time for a deeper dive, I guess.

Lotsa luck.

I'd start by contacting Kroenke Sports & Engertainment, e-mail guestrelations@TeamKSE.com, (303) 405-1100. I suspect they will be able to provide information about the 75th anniversary celebration, and perhspa the supplier or current owner of a copy of the restored White Desert.

I saw it at the Denver Paramount in 1982 with live organ, as part of the NRHS convention. That is how I know both films. The playbill that evening was three films: 8444, White Desert, and The Silver Streak.

Griffin (formerly Chicago) Museum of Science and Industry used to stock a fair amount of Zephyr-related goods in their store. They might have, or know how to locate, a Silver Streak video.

After seeing this, I watched it on internet archive. Audio was off several seconds from the video.
