Nice video but some of the history in the beginning is a bit garbeled.

First, the connecting railroad was the Philadelphia and Columbia. It bypassed Strasburg and served Lancaster instead. It was built by the Commonwealth of PA as part of the "Main Line of Public Works." This was a mix of rail road and canal to connect Philadelphia and Pittsburgh conceived around 1830 when canal was the preferred means of heavy transportation. The Erie Canal was connecting Albany NY with Lake Erie and PA wanted a link between Philadelphia and the Ohio River at Pittsburgh.

The topography between Philadelphia and Columbia was unsuited to a canal, so they built a Rail Road (it was two words then) which was routed via Lancaster instead of Strasburg. So the Burghers of Strasburg built a rail road from there to the P&C at Leaman Place.

Plymouth locomotive 1 was built in 1926 and the new owners sentit to Reading Shops fpr overhaul. It came bach with a wood coach (enclosed vestibule, steel underframe) which had become a locker room. Strasburg numbered it car 58, put walkover seats in it and it's in service at age 111.

Gabe sure seems to be a rising star there at Strasburg. Good for him.
