I have received a number of phone calls from well meaning fellow steam lover friends alarmed by a rumor making the rounds on the underground foamer intel network ( second only to the CIA ) that the initials RJD of the 614's new owner stand for " Ross Just Died".

The Iron Horse Society already exists, it's the non-profit friends group trying to improve the situation at Steamtown NHS.

Feel free to support them.

Hey, I’m just glad it’s being preserved and hopefully restored to her former luster which is more than I can say for my beloved ACL 1504.

The good news is that she is safely at Strasburg and the work has commenced on her 1472 day drill. Here's wishing the Strasburg crew good success in her restoration.

PMC - I read this FMW report on ex-ACL # 1504 with interest. However, there is a reference in that report to the 2023 Sugarland Express schedule, so I'm assuming that FMW report dates to that year. I wonder if there is a more recent report from FMW on the Pacific? The family and I had a real nice ride behind ex-FEC # 148 last year and I hope I'm around to ride one day behind the 1504.

Unfortunately. March 2023 was the last update for #1504 on both their website and facebook page. They do have a lot of irons in the fire right now.

I live close to Chattanooga, has the project stalled?

Perhaps reaching out to them directly might give you a better answer than you could find here. I'm assuming it all depends on funding, plus their other dozen or so things they are working on as a company.
