National Capital Trolley Museum held its first "PCC Day" this past Sunday, August 28 to celebrate 85 years since the introduction of PCC Cars to the nation's capital and present an opportunity to educate guests about these revolutionary (for their era) vehicles.

The event featured a staged lineup of 5 of the 7 PCC Cars in the museum collection, which included vehicles from three nations and two continents, an event for children, used book sale, presentations in the museum's auditorium, model streetcar and subway exhibits, and demonstration rides on three of the PCC cars in the museum collection. The event was well attended by both guests and members. Members of nearby Baltimore Streetcar Museum were offered free admission as well in recognition of the collaboration and spirit of partnership between the two organizations.

An additional display included the trucks from former DC Transit PCC Car #1470, which was acquired by the museum in 2020. The display was not merely coincidental, as the following Tuesday the trucks were shipped to Lyons Industries in Ebensburg, PA for complete rebuilding as the first phase of a major project to restore another original Washington, DC PCC Car to operating condition. Photos of the staged lineup of PCC Cars and the trucks loaded for shipment are included.

Best wishes,
Matt Nawn

Um...I read that topic as North Carolina Transportation Museum, and was wondering how I missed seeing any PCC's down there. Perhaps a more clearr topic header is in order?

Is that really necessary when the first line of the post tells you exactly what it is? Subject lines are short and sweet.

No PCCs in the NC Piedmont, thanks. NCTM has the remains of a wooden single truck car and a NC built Perley Thomas double truck from New Orleans. When Charlotte Trolley went tits up the rolling stock from there (which they didn't own) went to NCTM North Carolina for a while...... some may still be there, although Belmont (NC) Trolley is preparing to start operation on the local branch of the P&N and is working with the cars owner, Charlotte Mecklenburg Historical Society. I'm sort of involved with that startup but time hasn't allowed me to contribute much in the past year. Pleased to help if anybody has any questions.
