During the weekend of June 11 & 12, 2022, Iowa Interstate 6988 is scheduled to operate from Newton, Iowa to Bureau, Illinois and return. The locomotive is expected to operate east from Newton to Silvis on Saturday and then to Bureau, returning west on Sunday.
