I am looking for a copy of the manual for the K2 / 240 turbo generator that would instruct me how to adjust the governor and how to wire it in. Looking to install one this weekend on the 58 and would like to do it right.

Thanks.

Rick - We have a digital copy of a 1918 K-2 brochure and parts listing with some information on their care and feeding in the Engine 557 Restoration Company tech data archive. I got it from the Henry Ford Museum via interlibrary loan. Below are the most relevant pages to installation. Send your email by PM and I'll send the rest of the publication to you.

FYI, In one of the Locomotive Cyclopedias a PN ad says a K-2 can be upgraded to a K-240. While overhauling our K-240s we found that the commutator on one had more segments than the others. Bernie Watts explained that the one with the fewer segments was from a K-2.

If you find that you need a new shaft, case packing, or turbine cover packing, the Norfolk and Western HS has those drawings for a K-2 in their holdings.

Set the spring yoke assembly with about 2 threads showing through it. Take the strainer cap off the governor with the dynamo completely assembled and push the valve in against the spring and adjust until the valve core is even with the surrounding ring. Put the strainer cap back on. I will copy some stuff and mail it to you.
