There was flash flooding today in Summerville, GA: Quote: [Delayed Report] On Jun 20, at 1:00 AM EDT, Summerville [Chattooga Co, GA] EMERGENCY MNGR reports FLASH FLOOD. SIGNIFICANT FLOODING OCCURRED IN THE CITY OF SUMMERVILLE WITH NUMEROUS INTERSECTIONS, INCLUDING HWY 48 AND 27, UNDERWATER AND NUMEROUS BUSIN... The only other information I have is this tweet from an Atlanta TV station showing a flooded coffee shop that is approximately 900 ft from the turntable.

Hope all ends up OK. Per their website, TVRM does not have any scheduled trips to Georgia this year. Believe there's an issue with a bridge near 23rd street. |

Per recent information, the bridge is still an issue on running trips towards Summerville. |

I should have added that on the Copperhill line, trains are only running the Hiwassee Loop train due to storm damage on the Copperhill end of the line. Kind of a one-two punch to their longer trips. |

There was flooding in Summerville, GA again today (September 4, 2022.) Here is a short excerpt of an article from the Rome (GA) News-Tribune's website: Quote: Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency Sunday in Chattooga and Floyd counties after thunderstorms dropped more than 10 inches of rain on parts of the region. Link to full story: Kemp declares flooding emergency in Floyd, Chattooga counties; Summerville issues 'boil water' orderChattooga County was under a local flash flood emergency by 10 a.m., to include Summerville, Lyerly, Trion and James H. Floyd State Park. A flash flood warning for Floyd County included Rome, Lindale and Armuchee. “This severe weather event has caused and will likely continue to cause rivers to rise rapidly causing significant localized downstream flooding,” Kemp’s order reads. The article includes a photo of flood waters surrounding the County Sheriff's office, which is approximately 720 feet from the Summerville Depot. |
