anybody know of any standard gauge stockcars left? i know of plenty narrow gauge cars out there, but i cannot think of a single standard gauge car; would be a nice feature for a special event to include some sort of recreation of a stock holding pen and a car to give the public a better idea of how their meal traveled in the good ole days!
jwrinn@charlotte.com |

Maybe you could place the stock car on standard gauge trucks. In Nfld. we used to have to change the trucks on boxcars, shipped from CN on mainland Canada,to narrow gauge trucks, for CN's,narrow gauge track in Nfld. and back again when they went back to the mainland .This might help.
skeezix@ns.sympatico.ca |

Jim,
You might try to get one from Mexico. I've seen some photos on the unofficial Mexican Railroads web site. Get two if you try, as we could use one in St. Louis also.

rdgoldfede@aol.com |

Here in Omaha, Nebraska, there is a wooden stock car sitting at the defunct stockyards complex. It is less trucks and knuckles, but I would imagine that one could pick it up almost nothing being that it will be leveled in the next several months. If anybody is interested, email me and I will try to get a contact.
Gerry K.
hrrhs@aol.com |

I recall at least two stock cars at the Little River Railroad in northern Indiana years ago. I belieeve they were ex NP and they were modified for use at open cars! I do not know the status of that railroad at the moment or even if they call theirselves by that name any more, but it is the outfit with the "littlist Pacific".
SZuidervee@aol.com |
