Amherst Railway Society 2019 Train Show - Who will be there?

All,

So the 2019 Railroad Hobby Show is tomorrow and Sunday at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. I and Forrest Nace will be representing American Steam Railroad. Our table is in the Young Building, Spot 100-I against the wall opposite the cafeteria.

Stop by and see us and say hello. We already ran into a few fine folks from New England Steam Corporation, Downeast Scenic RR and Maine NG RR Museum.

Who else will be there?

I will not be, however I'm strongly leaning toward going next year. Sounds like the place to be today!

I can't make it, but I know there is a very small NE Ohio contingent arriving on #448 from Cleveland, representing the Northern Ohio Railway Museum and the Akron Railroad Club (not officially).

Maybe RYPN should have a table at next year's show to promote rail preservation.

Great to meet Ed Lecuyer from WW&F, Richard Glueck and Co from NESCO, Dylan Lambert, Empire State RR Museum and the gang from the WW&F today. Rick, it really is a great show, filling for large exhibition buildings. Many shortline as well as tourist railroads as well as museums are in attendance.

I think an RYPN booth would be a great idea to boost disability for the site and the rail preservation community in general.

I was there today as well. It's a great networking event. Attendance is in the tens of thousands.

If you have money to spare, there are hundreds of vendors selling railroadiana, books, Lionel and American Flyer tinplate trains, etc., but the value there is secondary to the social dimension in my opinion. If you want to reach out to the railfan community in the Northeast US, the Amherst show is the place to do it.

Plus, it's simply a lot of fun. My wife was with me today (we were married in October), and she said I had a big smile on my face the whole time we were there. :)

Well if RYPN ever did a booth I'd gladly volunteer to help run it...
