I guess this is near the depot? Part of a restaurant? Who knows more?

Apparently ex-PRR E8 5899A, supposedly later used by Scenic Rail Dining along with the attached rolling stock. The shop next to it is reportedly a bicycle shop now; presumably these items may be up for grabs, although there would have to be a reason the Wisconsin & Southern doesn't own or use them but instead a different car/E9 fleet.

The added stack in the roof above the #1 engine, and the lack of cab steps, and the air conditioning unit between the truck and fuel tank make me wonder if anything is left inside it. Anyone know for sure?

"MILW 35A" was actually ex-PRR 5896A, according to Andrew Toppan's list.
SRD's E9 #10C was MILW 32A according to the same list. It ended up operating on Wisconsin & Southern and is currently for sale (along with sister 10A) on www.railmerchants.net.

Scenic Rail Dining's rolling stock was all flat-sided and most of it (the domes at least) ended up ultimately in the UP exec/excursion fleet.

The E Unit is part of a restaurant called Babe's Bar and Grill at the Depot on 640 W. Washington. The train cars offer seating for meals and drinks. The location is a great one, in the old Milwaukee Road station, near the Kohl Center and not far from the State Capitol.

Just as a side note about Wisconsin and Southern's E Units, they are currently being used almost daily in regular freight service (except for the occasional break for a passenger special) due to the WSOR's current motive power shortage situation. Where else can you find E units in regular freight service in 2005?

I went by this display about 10 years ago. What I remember is the name-board still had faint traces of New York Central. At that time I think the idea was to have individual shops in the cars.

I went by the display over the summer and noticed that one of the stainless steel cars in the middle of the display consist has been removed. Does anyone know what happened to it? I also would like to point out that all of the equipment is reportedly for sale. Last time I was there I peeked through some of the windows and it appears that the locomotive has been completely gutted and the passenger cars have little, if any, original interior.

I did some snooping on Google street view and found that the locomotive and lead car were moved forward about one car length between Sep 2017 and Aug 2018. Same number of cars (4 cars, 1 loco) and same order, just part of the "train" moved forward. No idea why. Also noted that during that time a red and white banner was attached to the side of the loco that said "PORTER" and other text that cannot be red. Porter is the name of a coffee house in the station.

Either they plan on adding a car, or they are repairing the track in that spot.

My wife works near the station so I've been keeping check on the progress. A new restaurant is going to be built in the space called the Fred Harvey.
