Anyone got any info on this B&O tender? http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3854298 Do any of the N&W M class 4-8-0's still need a tender? Robert |

It was scrapped. I believe it was two years ago or so, but know it was posted on Midwest's Facebook page. I'll try to find it later tonight. Edit: Nearly 5 years ago. Around April 2014. https://m.facebook.com/MidwestRailwayPr ... &source=54 |

This video they had made in 1995 shows the tender at 12:28. As I understand it belonged to a B&O class Q-3 2-8-2, and was scrapped like jettrainfan said. https://youtu.be/n1ML8BkFGSk?t=12m28s |

I'm not sure if Twelve-Wheelers numbers 1118 and 1134 ever received one. Extra tenders seem to be getting few and far between these days. Les |

Les, When the three 4-8-0's were still located at the Virginia Scrap Iron and Metal Co. there were two N&W tenders located in the scrapyard as well. I don't know too many specifics about the tenders other than both were in the process of being convered to auxilliary tenders prior to the end of steam on the N&W. Neither were used behind 1118, 1134, or 1151. Fast forward to when the locomotives were preserved, VMT got one of the tenders to go behind 1151 and the Railroad Museum of Virginia in Portsmouth, VA got the other one for 1134. So far at the moment, 1118 which is owned by the Roanoke Chapter NRHS, is the only one of the trio that still doesn't have a tender. Martin |

Add to that the N&W 2-8-0 that moved to Ohio and has a Toonerville Style Tender. Definitely could use a real tender. Kevin K. |

Who owns it? |

Midwest Railway Preservation Society owns the B&O tender frame and trucks. We did scrap the riveted body of the tender about five years ago, it was badly corroded and being riveted it was not repairable. As of today MRPS is using the tender frame to store about 20 tons of heavy 16 foot long lumber on it which is being used to replace the roof of stalls 8 ,9, and 10 of the Roundhouse. The roof over stalls 6 and 7 is done, the contractor is working on stall 8 right now. The tender is sitting in stall 7 and if the contractor needs the rolling lumber car to be moved we will switch it into a different stall. |
