It seems through the months of April and May CSX has been wiping out vacant depots along its right of way. Here's a partial list... Nelson, Va - can't confirm of this has been torn down yet http://www.dailyprogress.com/news/local ... 1956e.html Abbeville, S.C. http://www.wyff4.com/article/police-rep ... n/20709459 Balcony Falls - supposedly torn down last week but can't get confirmation Have there been others? I am trying to compile a list for a story I'm working on. Any leads to credible news sources are appreciated. Thank you. -otto- |

Balcony Falls was indeed torn down. Gladstone is still standing but its not looking good. CSX also recently tore down former C&O A Cabin in Alleghany VA. |

I had to learn that lesson the hard way with one of my favorite depots in Illinois. The Clinchfield depot in Dante, VA was/is in danger of demolition by CSX and last I heard the town was pushing for its preservation. I'm not sure what became of it but I believe it's still standing. http://www.heraldcourier.com/news/dante ... be111.html Thomas |

The roof caved in a few years ago now, and it was pretty trashed on the inside before that. |

They are eliminating insurance and liability costs. They might try to sell them off. Cheaper than razing them. Later! Mr. Ed |
