Post subject:  Efforts underway to save the Simpson roundhouse and railroad
An interesting story: Simpson, in Washington state, is the last logging railroad. A post showed up on the American-Rails.com facebook newsfeed today (a great source of both current news and great old photos) with the following text:

Efforts are underway to save the country's last true logging line, the Simpson Railroad, which shutdown in 2015. The Peninsular Railway and Lumbermen's Museum hopes to convert the remaining trackage, equipment, and facilities (including the roundhouse) into a tourist attraction/museum.

That's all I know, I took the headline from the story but I don't know how much is "underway" or just talk at this point. PMC

Be really nice if this effort gets going. Can't remember how many stalls, but it's a neat little building with an armstrong table outside.
When I first visited in 1967, Simpson had an engine wiper who kept the 3 EMDs and one Alco immaculately clean. They were waxed around once each month. Simpson was quite friendly to fans for years and issued passes to ride. I wish them the best here, lots of
fine memories.

One of their former steam locomotives, 80-3 class Shay 7 should still be on display right in town.

I wish them luck. All it will take is political will and great piles of cash. I found the local Shelton museum to be very uncooperative. After a friend passed per his request I gave all of his Simpson photos to them. This was over 1000 images. That was several years ago and so far there has been no thank you, no deed of gift, no nothing!
