That sounds amazing! If the freight does get run push-pull style, I would love to see #90 on the point and #475 pushing on the back. It would be quite a phenomenal sight to see Strasburg's 2 strongest steam locomotives working together on that train. This is just my opinion, of course, but I do think it would be an unbelievable sight. Plus, it would be a great way to finish 2016 with one hell of a bang. That's my $.02.

Wish I could be there to see it; I'm sure there will be many talented practitioners of the photographic arts recording this event.

But when you do this the 2nd crew is guys from the shop, right? So you don't have a full day's crew expense for a one hour roundtrip.

If you were to break that tonnage down to 1930's -50's freight equipment, rough guess would be what, 17-19 cars dropped at the interchange?

I'd think it would be safe to say that by comparison, Strasburg Railroad of today hauls pretty good tonnage for a line with no lineside industries, to what it did in its early days as a farmers road.

A credit to their ability to market themselves....so many other roads fail to do this......congrats!.

Late report: Seven loads for Strasburg on NS train H27 out of Lancaster 07:01. Both 90 and 475 under steam.

SRC is 286K-capable. What's your track structure like-- rail weight, tie size, etc.?

Timetable East to West:
Leaman Place Yard: 132 RE on the main; 152 RE on parts of Track Two and the interchange; 6" x 8" ties;
Main to Groffs: 115/112 RE; 7" x 9" ties;
Groffs: 146 RE; 7" x 9" ties (Pennsylvania's chief rail P.E. required the heavy rail when we rebuilt the main and siding last year ... we wanted to lay Groffs with 100 RB since it's a station and all ...);
Groffs to E. Strasburg: 115/112 RE; 7" x 9" ties;
E. Strasburg Yard: Mostly 100 whatever (RDG; LSI and RB); working towards 7" x 9" on the main; most other tracks are 6" x 8"'s.
