Hello from Ted Anderson:
A bit of information about the Budd Collection is in order. They were transferred from Bombardier Transportation Canada Inc to the Illinois Railway Museum two years ago, copies of the drawings to be supplied under Bombardier license for model makers and car owners. Any legal-related use should be directed to Bombardier Transportation. The collection is quite large. We have shelved most of the drawings by now. They are in archival boxes which require a lot of search to locate a given drawing.
Therefore it is of great importance to be serious about your requests, as trivia or non-follow through waste our limited volunteer time, and we already have too much of that (one just this week). Please be respectful and patient with us.
To make a request, I would suggest doing your preliminary research with the Budd books by David Randall to locate the particular car. Multiple requests are to be discouraged simply because it takes so long per customer. We do have drawing lists for Budd, and from them we should be able to locate drawings by job number. We do not have access to Budd specifications or photos at this time.
That said, currently a brief request by phone on Wednesdays 10-4 pm may be preferable as Al Johanson, Pullman Library archivist, may be there on our regular schedule. I will have limited availability of my time until September 2016, but will check the emails periodically and forward them until I am back in the saddle. Keep in mind we still are meeting requests for Pullman plus Pullman Standard freight and passenger to end of production, Pullman Palace Car from 1889, Osgood Bradley passenger car, trolleys & trolley coaches, and Standard Steel Car freight & passenger. We have started filing the Standard Motor Truck drawings, which may be of interest to the trolley car people when that task is completed.
Sincerely, Ted Anderson, Pullman Library volunteer curator
