Trying to find out if all the GE 25 tonners were built in the same location, or if it varied by build date, etc. Out unit came without builders plates, but one of our members has an extensive collection of plates from GM, GE, ALCo, etc. including 2 different blank plates from GE that would have been on our locomotive. Thing is, one plate is Erie PA, the other is Schenectady NY. Ours is serial #29231. We obviously want to copy the correct plate, so any info would be very helpful.

So far as I know all GE 25 tonners (and for that matter, all GE diesels until just recently) were built at Erie. Schenectady appears on many plates. Perhaps that was the GE corporate HQ? The Schenectady plant produced stationary power plant equipment.

This brings up a question. Which plant produced the GE electrical components for Alco locomotives? Schenectady or Erie?
