Marshal Railway Equipment Company Info Needed

I'm following up on some research for the Carroll Park and Western RR book I am working on and am looking for info on Marshal Railway Equipment Company? In particular during the 1950s. Where were they located, etc? Can anyone help?

Not trying to be snarky about this, but this is one of those cases where proper spelling makes ALL the difference.

Do your searches again with "Marshall" with TWO "l's".

Thank you, Mr Mitchell. This is a pet peeve of mine, for obvious reasons.

For the record, the occupation or military rank (e.g. fire marshal, field marshal) is spelled "marshal" (one L), but the surname is always spelled "Marshall" (two Ls).

Not to be contrary, Philip, but I have two friends who both are Phillip with two Ls, as well as others with one L.

Thanks Wayne, but I will maintain that their parents were mistaken. :)

(It's even included in some editions of Strunk & White under "Words Often Misspelled", the only proper noun so listed.)

Hi,

Back in the 1830's, a plantation was created in what is now the northern suburbs of Atlanta - Dunwoody. Due too a missed mistake in filing the transaction at the county, the Dunwody's changed the spelling of their name to Dunwoody instead of trying to correct the legal document.

Then there is Pittsburgh and Pittsburg.

Funny stuff.

It is believed that someone read a number wrong and thus the pitchers mound in baseball is 60' 6" from home plate instead of 60' 0".

I got a fuel tank made to 3'6" instead of 36" when a dead gnat landed on the glass platen in a fax machine once........damn inconvenient.

In 1891 the United States Board on Geographic Names adopted thirteen general principles to be used in standardizing place names, one of which was that place names ending in -burgh should drop the final "h." The Board compiled a report of place name "decisions", also in 1891, in which Pittsburgh's name was rendered Pittsburg. This was discontinued in 1911.

The Pittsburg & Shawmut was officially incorporated in 1909. The spelling derives from the company’s origins in the Pittsburg, Shawmut & Northern Railroad. That company was chartered in 1899.
