For the first time in over a decade, Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum will be hosting a Diesel Weekend on Sept. 12-13, 2015. 8 operational locomotives will be featured. Cab visits, switching and air start demonstrations are some of the activities scheduled. In addition, a Motive Power Parade will take place Saturday morning, as well as a Photo Freight on Sunday Morning.

Brought out of twenty years of retirement, the world's last remaining MLW RS-2, Roberval & Saguenay #20 will be featured in the parade. Visit www.exporail.org for hours and other info.

Lots to do and see!

Can you list which locomotives will be operating, and will the Trainmaster be outdoors?

Hi Richard,

Open for cab visits:

CP 4744, CNR 77, CNR 3684, CP 1608, CP 4237, AMT 1311, Via 6921, CNR 1382

Operational locomotives:

CNR 3684, CP 1608, CP 4237, CP 4563, AMT 1311 + AMT 603 + AMT 827 (HEP'ed),
Via 6921, CNR 1382, R&S 20.

Unfortunately CPR 8905 will not be outdoors as the Track 12 Lead into the Angus Pavilion is full of rolling stock and cut off from the mainline by the streetcar line.

The photo freight will have either CP 4237+CP 4563 Mu'ed, or R&S 20.

If you come up, look me up on the site, I'll be one of the ones with grease up to the elbows!!!

It amazes me, how many railfans haven't been to Exporail, but it is one of the great collections in North America, and home to some truly fantastic exhibits and opportunities to gather information, photo, and data. Bon chance, mon ami's!

Folks,

I was up there two weeks ago and it is a fantastic collection, lots to see.

Saw the signs for the diesel weekend and wish I could attend.

Definitely worth the trip!

Greetings,

The final countdown is on for the big event. The to-do list is actually getting shorter (finally)!!!
Attached is a shot of Roberval & Saguenay 20 after replacing a head and liner/water jacket work.
She sounds great!!!

As someone who regrets the fact that no Southern Pacific FM TrainMasters were saved, and was almost overcome with emotion when I saw the sole survivor in Canada, does the CPR unit run? (even if it doesn't, it's a treasure of railway preservation.)

Apparently the H24-66 in Delson is a floor exhibit only. Bear in mind however, the Canadians have also preserved the last two FM C-liners, at least one H16-44, and an H16-66. These other examples are scattered around the nation, but overall, appear to be in good hands.
