Post subject:  Sellers SW Number One Injector Technical Information
I'm looking for technical and performance data for the Sellers SW Number One non-lifting injector. Particularly aspects like:

1. Delivery range based on feed temperature
2. Steam consumption to Feedwater delivered Ratios (for different boiler pressures)
3. Final feed temperatures

Further, does anyone know who has the blueprints for this Sellers injector? Based off a search of previous posts, Strasburg Railroad was going to be my next contact.

Number one? Might do better with a live steamer forum. Even small industrial full size locomotives use about a #5......

Kelly Anderson and all,

Thanks for the update, but disappointing to hear. I'm looking to get the technical info for the T1 Trust project. Like you, the usual sources (Locomotive Cyclopedia and the like) is the only info I have.

The T1 test report lists the Sellers SW One with maximum capacity of 108,300 lbs/hr (13,000 gal/hr) and minimum capacity of 56,000 lbs/hr (6720 gal/hr).

Next question would be what viable alternative injector is available today (either as a refurbish or new manufacture) with that capacity?

You're probably right that the number one is quantity, not part of the Sellers SW nomenclature. Oh well.

I was hoping for some time of performance chart for the SW like the one in the 1922 Sellers Injector catalog (see pages 86-91).

As you can see the ratio pounds of water fed per pound of steam used drops off quickly for higher pressures. I'm probably getting too far into the details, but it's required when you're looking at total evaporation rates, fuel consumption, etc.

That explains it... a "number one" injector in other brands used as a size would indicate a steam nozzle diameter of 1 mm.

Penberthy specifications are very close to Nathan and Sellers (gallons per hour, delivery water temperature).

A number of years ago I was looking at the interchangeability of a new Penberthy in place of a pair of very tired Nathan #7 Monitors. The Penberthy EE-336 injector is a near dead match to what Nathan specifications showed.

I'm sure scaling back the pipe size on Penberthy's chart you can figure out the information you are asking for.
