steamlocomotive.info's prepaid hosting has run out, and I cannot afford to renew it. The Donate button on the website is available. We need to raise $275.00 for the next year's hosting. Any money donated will go solely to extending the hosting of the website. If I'm unable to raise the hosting costs, the site will be preserved as an archive.

Regards,
Doug

Doug, if you can't find a way to keep it going where you're at, talk to me, I would be willing to take it over. Basically, I'd leave it as is, but add some ads to defray the costs of hosting it.

There are less expensive hosting available that is top notch. I highly recommend trainweb.org for a free host site and Go Daddy for paid. My huge site only costs me less than half what you are paying for everything... hosting, domains, search visibility...

To begin with, trainweb.org is a fine organization and a fine hosting provider. It, however provides none of the services (Coldfusion 9, MS SQL Server database hosting) needed to operate steamlocomotive.info.

Secondly, the last time this issue arose we tried to move steamlocomotive.info to godaddy hosting and were completely unsuccessful. While Coldfusion hosting was then offered by godaddy, it was so restricted that our site couldn't be made fully operational on godaddy.

But thanks for the suggestions.

Doug,

I've made a donation. Your website is too valuable to lose.

Could you operate under the umbrella of a sympathetic 501c3? Then the donations would be tax deductible. With the right non-profit group you could continue operating as you have with the possible exception of a "sponsored by..." on the home page. As an example, I have been treasurer of an 501c3 literary organization that sponsors a prestigious literary award. The award administrators run the award, and the 501c3 simply accepts donations and writes the award checks. The value for the 501c3 is in sponsoring an activity consistent with its mission, and getting the sponsorship plug.

To all, I apologize for not responding to your incredible generosity earlier. I and a kidney stone got in an argument and I ended up in the hospital for a couple of days. So thank you for your generosity and kindness. Steamlocomotive.info's hosting bill is now paid through April 30th, 2016 (2 more years!). I am humbled and honored by your support.
