I visited the Heber Valley RR in Heber, UT. last Saturday and found that ex-UP 2-8-0 #618 has been moved inside the shop after being on display near the station for a couple of years following the expiration of its 1472-day certification. The orphaned sand dome outside the shop would suggest that disassembly has begun to inspect and re-certify her for operation.

Maybe it's just been a naughty little sand dome? Kidding!

The UP 618 is one of my favorite steam locos.

From their Facebook page:

<< The No. 618 is in the shop and the required inspection process is underway!
We're looking for volunteers, donations, and sponsors to help us get this
1907 treasure back in operation quickly.
