Seems better today, but not much. The first half of the page pops up then I wait several MINUTES for the rest of it. I think it's an old site, due for a make over or upgrade. A little cumbersome compared to others.

I pinged the RYPN server last time it had problems, it resides on comcast internet backbones. That time Comcast was being DDOS attacked and it really smothered the system. I wonder if thats the case again. The rest of the net was AOK, but when the ping reached the comcast backbone the ping did not return.

Still slow loading for me...but you know everything's slower down here in the south, right?

Ah-ha!!! Up until now, I thought I was the only one! I thought it was my computer, as everything (well, almost everything) has been loading slowly in the last few days. I thought maybe that when I upgraded the Java and Adobe Flash concurrently the other day, that something hadn't installed quite right and had caused my Internet Explorer to turn into molasses. Then I thought it had gotten worse because of the large Microsoft update which ran the other night, but now I realize the problem must lie with the fact that my house is connected to the web via "Comcast High Speed Internet", so the current DDOS attack (if that's what this is all about) must be affecting their system locally. We've been having occasional blackouts of the system lately (internet and phone, which are connected through the same modem, go dead, while the TV connection remains functional, this despite the fact that all three run from the same fiber-optic cables). It seemed to get worse after we had a nasty lightning storm the other week, but its only been in the last few days that its gone from occasional blackouts to just constant slowness. For some reason, YouTube doesn't seem to be that affected, but Google is. Try and figure that one out!

It's occasionally loading slowly here on a Verizon server, and it's not the only one. I've read that Flickr (from whence a lot of the photos here come from) is also all but shut down due to some similar DDOS issues, and there are several other sites (major newspaper sites, Facebook, etc.) bogging down somewhat.

I'm currently reading RYPN using two different physical machines: a chromebook and a Ubuntu workstation. Both machines are connected to the same internet connection.

RYPN is very quick and very responsive on the chromebook.... and it is dreadfully slow and when I try to read it using Firefox on the Ubuntu workstation.

I cannot explain this difference in performance - the workstation is several times more powerful than the Chromebook and both are using the exact same internet connection.
