Posting just for general interest -

Still seem to be some interesting, old structures around waiting for demolition or preservation.
Ran across this one online. Notice the fancy scroll work on the end:

FREIGHT
NYWS&B

Apparently this stood for the New York, West Shore & Buffalo Railroad.

And an older photo. There has obviously been some deterioration since this shot.
I've never seen lettering cut into boards like this. A really nice effect.

Thanks for the great photos Lucien. Hopefully the structure will eventually be preserved, but if not, let's hope that the scroll work will be saved somewhere. I wonder if the other end of the building, has the same fancy lettering?

There still are a number of interesting railroad structures out there that aren't part of a museum. The wife and I had to make a detour this past weekend off of the interstate to avoid a possible traffic tie up and our alternate took us through a small town with an interesting building down a side street. Was able to check it out the next day and found out it was an old, rather substantial, brick interurban depot that is now used as the town library! Great alternative use.

Thanks for the posting!

Les
