Can anyone here pin down where this sign came from? We have lots of maybes but no definites. A picture of it in service would be that much better. thanks

If I guess correctly, can the sign come to live with us at the Museum in Thomaston? This is from Bridgeport, Conn., the eastbound passenger platform. Track 4 was the eastbound "platform" track, and in NYNH&H practice, the next tracks "outboard" of the four mains were numbered even numbers for east side of the main, and odd numbers for west side of the main. Bridgeport had a pocket track, Track 6, along the east side of the eastbound passenget platform. That's where the Waterbury and Winsted "Naugatuck Valley Line" connecting trains departed from. The Valley trains ran east a few miles to Devon Jct, where they turned north off the mainline. Trains for Springfield (Mass) branched off north at New Haven. Nice sign. Howard P. |

Possibly someday. I'm a signal collector but every once in a while something like this pops up that I just can't say no to. Thanks a million for the great information! |

I see a miniture switch stand on the end table. Is that a salesman sample or something scratchbuilt? |

Very nice sign! It's amazing where stuff turns up! As HP indicates, that's where trains carrying passengers for destinations along our line operated from. |

Ya, just sitting on a shelf in a garage wrapped in plastic. That's the thrill of collecting is the discovery. And fwiw I've donated a complete US&S tri-light and H2/H5 searchlight setup up on a US&S half case to the San Bernardino History & Railroad Museum and a couple other worthy items to the Pacific Railroad Society. So possibly someday we might get this sign back home. Even my wife liked the way it looked, and trust me, she isn't impressed by railroad items. :) |
