The one and only Oregon Coast Crawler will take you on a memorable 7.5 hour journey of exploration and beautiful Oregon scenery, all by vintage train powered by a historic steam locomotive. Originating in the small fishing village of Garibaldi, we make a leisurely trip on the rails along the dramatic Northern Oregon Coastline affording fantastic panoramic views of both Tillamook and Nehalem Bays. Heading North, we pass through Rockaway Beach and stop at Wheeler for an early waterside lunch.

You will also have a few minutes free to explore this interesting harbor town before reboarding the Oregon Coast Crawler. As we continue to Batterson, we will be traveling along the scenic Nehalem River at the peak time to experience Oregon's Fall Foliage. The last steam train to visit Batterson was years ago, and is a rare treat indeed.

On the return trip to Garibaldi, we will be stopping for a brief service break and free time in Rockaway to allow passengers to stretch their legs and possibly pick up some taffy or an ice cream cone, both locally made in Tillamook County.

Our train is scheduled to be pulled by the McCloud River Railroad #25, which is an Alco 2-6-2 steam locomotive featured in the movie 'Stand By Me'. We will also be using an open air car for unparalleled views and enhanced enjoyment, in addition to the two indoor coaches and a baggage car we will be running this trip.

All passengers will have a guaranteed indoor seat and the outdoor space will be shared throughout the day. A minimum of three photo runbys have been scheduled and more will be added as time permits. A sandwich bar featuring fresh local ingredients and beverages will be provided in Wheeler by the Tsunami Grill.

Whether a railfan, a photographer, or simply someone who enjoys a relaxing day on the Oregon Coast, the Crawler is sure to please. As this trip is limited to less than 120 passengers, we highly recommend making your reservations ASAP. Feel free to call us at 503-292-5055 if you have any questions or to book by phone, or book online: http://www.railsnw.com/tours/charter/ga ... _steam.htm

Hmm. That's a little late in the season to count on decent weather (it can get pretty ugly on the coast by October), are there going to be any such trips in the summer time this year?
Been looking for an excuse to get down that way again, haven't been down there in a few years....

The weather should still be real nice in early October. The "ugly" weather doesn't usually start until November---at least it doesn't 50 miles north of Garibaldi, up here in Astoria.
