Steam locomotive Essex Terminal Railway No. 9, built in 1923 by the Montreal Locomotive Works, will be operating in passenger service on Saturday and Monday of the Family Day week-end.

Our special trains will travel from the City of Waterloo through the picturesque snow covered farms of Woolwich Township to Elmira and return.

We are very excited about this winter special and hope that you will come out and be part of the festivities.

Winterloo
This week-end will also feature the 10th Annual Waterloo Ice Dogs Festival aka Winterloo at the Uptown Waterloo Public Square which will be our departure point for the week-end.
Parking

Parking is available at Waterloo Town Square as well as the nearby City of Waterloo Visitor Information & Heritage Centre (Train Station) at 10 Father David Bauer Drive. Please arrive early as parking is limited.

Please note during the winter months the Train Station is closed.

Easter Bunny Train

The Easter Bunny returns to meet all his friends for a very special train ride from Uptown Waterloo to St. Jacobs and return.

Mr. Bunny will pass out Easter candy to all his friends as the train makes its way through Waterloo, past the Farmers Market and to its final destination of St. Jacobs.

Trains will operate on their regular 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00 schedule departing from our Waterloo Station. Trains depart St. Jacobs at 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00.

As with our regular trains, passengers are welcome to get off the train at the Market for a visit and then continue your trip on a later train as well as visit the Village of St. Jacobs and return on a train of your choice.
Elmira Maple Syrup Festival

Our special “commuter” rail passenger express service will run all day long from our Waterloo station to the Town of Elmira for the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. Don't get stuck in traffic going to the Maple Syrup Festival - leave your car in Waterloo and take the train.

We return to our regular Saturday operations after the Maple Syrup Trains on Saturday, April 13th and continue each Saturday until October 26, 2013.

In addition to our Saturday trains we commence regular Thursday passenger trains on Thursday, May 16th until the final Thursday train on Thursday. October 10th, 2013.

During the summer months we operate regular Tuesday passenger trains commencing on Tuesday, June 11th until Tuesday, August 29th, 2013.

All our regularly scheduled passenger trains and charters are powered by one of diesel locomotives unless otherwise specified.

The Waterloo Central Railway is wholly owned and operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS) which is a not-for-profit registered charity dedicated to the preservation and operation of historical railway equipment. SOLRS operates a complete railway restoration and shop facility in the Village of St. Jacobs, Ontario.

Our Waterloo Station, hosted within the City of Waterloo Visitor and Heritage Information Centre at 10 Father David Bauer Drive, Waterloo is closed for the season and will reopen on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. The Station's business hours are Tuesdaythrough Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
