For those of you who have not seen what scrappy New Englanders with a rail preservation bent have done, maybe you should check out this blog visit to Phillips ME. Starting in the 1970s with not much more than a dream, you have to say much has been accomplished.

To remind folks of information provided on another thread earlier this summer, steam at the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes with ex-Monson #4 is at a critical point in the restoration process:

In regards to the other discussion happening at this time... it makes me happy to hear that this website might generate the interest to save Maine Central #470. There are a few other New England standard gauge preservation projects which might be added to the same group's agenda, if successful with starting project #1.

Nice work they are doing over there! I'll try to check that out soon, and thanks about the 470 comments. Isn't that what RyPN was really created for? Thanks go to Mark Smith, Bob Yarger, and Hume Kading for the opportunity. Where are they now?......
