Much better! Now the only problem is someone living in the Delaware Valley area clicks his way through to local chapters to find one near him and ends up here: http://www.delvalnrhs.org/ |

Drupal. Nice choice. Site looks good too. I need to spend some more time assessing it though. Does anyone know if it was an internal effort, or if they hired someone to do it for them? |

I'm glad to hear that the new nrhs.com is being well received. We are still working out some of the bugs and will be adding more content in the next few weeks. To answer some of the questions posed in other posts... . The site is built in Drupal. We wanted some content management capabilities to make content updates less painful and faster, however, we were looking for something low budget. Drupal provided a nice balance between cost, ease of finding programming resources and having the capabilities that we needed. It is not the perfect CMS by any means, but it will meet our needs for the next few years. . The new site and brand were developed with a mix of in-house and contract resources. Some aspects like the site strategy, information architecture, project management, systems administration and technical requirements/architecture were done with in-house resources with professional backgrounds in those areas. Other areas, such as the brand development and visual designs, were contracted out to get an outside "fresh" perspective. Other areas, such as writing and SEO were contracted out because we didn't have people with the right skills in-house. Finally, the programming was contracted out in order to get the work done faster and use our volunteers in areas where it would have been more difficult to contract the work. . Tom pointed out that many of our Chapter's don't have sites that look as polished. One of the system capabilities that is in our backlog is Chapter templates to enable Chapters that don't have the technical expertise or interest in investing in their website to be able to get something up that looks really good. This is one of a large number of improvements that we hope to be able to roll out at some point in the future. Jeff Smith NRHS Vice President |
