Both of those clips were taken out of the Norfolk Southern Promotion Video "Three In Steam". The video was available by loan during the days of the original mainline steam program.

When the original steam program ended in 1994, NS would hardly acknowledge that the video ever existed. Back in 1988 I requested a copy from the NS library loan program and before I returned it I made a copy. Those two videos were uploaded to YouTube from my digitized copy.

I've always felt they were valuable educational & historical pieces which NS could easily offer as part of their corporate video uploads. If they ever do so, their versions would be of much higher quality as they would be based on their original film productions which were long ago paid for.

The cost for NS to re-edit them would be peanuts and the PR, educational & historical value in having them online would be great regardless of whether either of those steam ambassadors ever turned a wheel again.

In your first link at the 9:00 mark you can see someone pulling a valve liner, with the chiseled out bottom for removal which has been recently discussed on another thread.
