Thank you for posting this news story. Ed was a friend of many years and a fellow member at National Capital Trolley Museum. He was from St. Louis and had an early interest in the Museum of Transport as it was known. Ed recalled his days at Capital Transit when he worked a shift in a switch tower, and rode on DCTS 0522, the rail grinder. Both of these artifacts are now in the collection at National Capital Trolley Museum. Ed was also the point of contact when Capital Transit donated the center door car to the Electric Railroaders Association in 1944. Thankfully Ed lived to see the center door returned to Washington.

To Schell's surprise, a letter later appeared on his desk in his office at CTCo. one day in December 1944. Recalling the event almost 60 years later, Schell said that in the letter Mr. Merrill offered then CTCo. No. 884 to the ERA.
