I'm looking carbon brush part numbers for a 5GT-1503-X1 generator and GE 733 traction motor. Anybody know where to order these?

Morgan AMT (National Carbon) makes brushes for just about every application you could imagine. In the case of older equipment they can sometimes identify what you need by sending them a filled out brush information form describing the brushes you have in stock or in the machines:

If you look around there, they have some excellent brochures on brush inspection and evaluation available for free download.

Do not get confused on the internet by another "National Carbon" that also makes brushes and is located overseas, they are a different company.

The small GE industrial locomotives are not central to their product line, they normally sell parts for the larger GE's, but the company President advises that they will try to help with parts needs for the industrials if you can give them some information to go on, part numbers from existing brushes, etc.

Morgan AMT bought the General Electric carbon products operations (CPO) about 10 years ago. They would be the place to go for GE brushes. Any other place selling GE brushes is probably buying them from Morgan AMT.
