| Post subject: | Historic Day at the Rockhill Trolley Museum |
This past Saturday, May 21, was a historic day for the Rockhill Trolley Museum. This was the museum's annual "Members Day", a special day reserved for members and guests. Newly acquired former New Jersey Transit PCC Car #6 made its first runs, only 39 days after it was shipped from Bloomfield, NJ to Rockhill Furnace and nearly 10 years after it last ran in New Jersey. A portion of the car's first trip can be viewed at the video below: http://www.rockhilltrolley.org/node/1130 (or directly at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB9YeMnUGEo) Not to be outdone, Liberty Liner Independence Hall was made operable for the first time in 15 years and operated for several round trips during the day. The car might not be ready for a 100 mph run from Chicago to Milwaukee, but operated just fine during each of its 3 mile round trips. http://www.rockhilltrolley.org/node/1129 (or directly at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OggfP8zJKmI) It was a very good day to be a member of the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Compliments and congratulations to all who made these historic events possible. - Matt Nawn, First Vice President, Rockhill Trolley Museum |
