Interesting new boiler construction / repair images

The recent 60th anniversary of the 1951 opening of the worlds first preserved for tourism railway at the Talyllyn in Wales caused an e-mail to drop in my inbox showing images of a brand new all riveted boiler for the anniversary locomotive #2.

Clicking on the pages for 2010 and 2009 at the bottom of the 2011 page reveals a lot of additional and interesting boiler and other component repairs too.

While browsing that link, I noticed that the Dunrobin has been shipped back to the UK. Anyone have any additional info on that move? The last time I saw her was in Vancouver BC in 1986, and I even had the good fortune to get a cab ride.

And it's proof why the british make fun of our preservation endeavors. We can't keep something here! While we do a good job, they have us beat in every regard; in preserving equipment, railways, and bringing back lost equipment. Just hope they leave Wadon... If they take her, then I'll have no chance to see and A1X on the North American continent! Saves me the money of flying to England

Invest the money in a trip to England. You will gain more for less than trying to find English preservation in the US or Canada. Context is critical to understanding technology, and our railways were built in an entirely different contextual climate, and for other reasons, than theirs.

And, of course, the Pub Grub and beer is excellent as well.

Might not fly, just book a berth on a freighter if you can.

I'm curious as to why she left, which I don't think the links referenced address (they seem to me more about the trip itself).

Why was the engine sold? When did it last run? That sort of thing? For that matter, what of the Fort Steele operation in general? Are they still running steam etc?
