It looks like last Saturday was a very good day for many organizations. Roanoke Rail Day was a big success for us and VMT. Our equipment moved over to VMT last Saturday (see previous posts). We accomplished a great deal of switching for VMT while we were there. On Saturday, we ran 27 trips on the "warehouse lead", about 1 1/2 miles round trip. We hauled somewhere in the vicinity of 900 passengers. After the train rides, the equipment moved down to the Link Museum for their night photo session, then returned home to 9th St. It was a pleasure to deal with NS Roanoke Terminal, the folks here now are super to work with. Below are links to our Facebook page and VMT's, some video from Steve (AKA Mr. Pullman) and some local news coverage.

I can say that I was one of the 900 riders that day. Boy, do these guys put on a great show. Makes one want to join in and become a member. :)

And conductor Gary did a great job....conducting. ;) haha

Interesting statistic from last weekend. Our ridership on the train exceeded the total visitorship at the Museum by about 12%. Some folks obviously enjoyed the trip enough to go through the line twice. With the success of last weekend, it is looking like we'll be making several more "guest appearances" later in the year including a return to Appomattox in the fall. I'll post more info as things develop.

Or, about 12% slipped into the museum without a ticket to begin with. Nah, no one would attempt something like that.
