"$45,000 from donations and fundraisers that is slated to go to the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor," Schley said.

Does the above mean there are escrow funds due to the Connecticut Trolley Museum?

From my understanding the group in question raised $45000.00 towards the purchase and restoration of the train station. They did this through tag sales, bake sales, etc. They have come to the conclusion that the town was not going to work with them, so have decided to disband and give the funds they raised to the trolley museum. They are looking at different projects at the museum they will fund like the restoration of the isle of safety, a trolley waiting shelter rescued from Hartford Ct a number of years ago. Its nice that they are giving the money towards railway preservation since the money was raised for that purpose.

501c3 tax exempt organizations are required by IRS to put a clause in their bylaws indicating what happens to any remaining net assets if the organization disbands. In some cases, they leave the decision up to their board, or they could specify it.

I think they made a good choice and hope the money is used well.

What a sad story. Just one more local gov't, stonewalling the public, so another Dunkin Donuts or Taco Bell can be built.

Here are some photos of the station
