CMRR Volunteer Workdays - 1/8, 1/9

Saturday, January 8th

At Cornell Street, Earl Pardini will open the gates at 9am. Projects include removing decorations from the Holiday Train and notching timbers for bridge C9.

In Phoenicia, the 702 crew will be working starting at 10am.

Also in Phoenicia, either Derek Stapleton or Dave Mason will be in charge of the west end track crew. Please contact them directly for their plans for Saturday.


Sunday, January 9th

No work crews are planned, though Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street yard if requested.

George Peck plans to be at Phoenicia at about 10am.

Saturday, January 8th

From Mark Glaser:

"On Saturday, at Cornell St. Yard today crews completed the removal and storage of all decorations and lighting from the Holiday Train. Additionally, sixteen bridge timbers had remaining spikes and plates removed and were staged for notching; five were sawn to finished length.

Participating were Earl and Mimi Pardini, Bob Blake, George Bain, John Patane, Mark Glaser, and new volunteer Anthony Gambino."

There were no work crews in Phoenicia due to snow.

Saturday, January 15th

Cornell Street will be closed Saturday.

In Phoenicia, the 702 crew will be working starting at 10am.

Also in Phoenicia, George Peck will be opening up the yard at 8:30am, and will need help clearing the ESRM and CMRR parking lots of snow. Once this is done, he will work to get the yard plowed out.


Sunday, January 16th

Plans for Cornell Street have been cancelled due to cold weather.

George Peck plans to be at Phoenicia at about 10am.

On Saturday, January 15th, the CMRR held its annual planning meeting at Phoenicia, where we worked on project priorities for 2011.

On Saturday, George Peck led a crew consisting of Dave Mason and Derek Stapleton. They warmed up CMRR 29, and took it and the worktrain on a plow run, opening the line from Phoenicia to Mt. Tremper.

Saturday, January 29th

On Saturday, George Peck, Derrek Stapleton and Dave Mason took CMRR No. 29 out and cleared the line down to Andrew's Lane, MP 24.88.


Sunday, January 30th

Earl Pardini, led a crew consisting of Walt Otto, Bob Blake, Will Willsey and Anthony Gambino. They cleaned up the Cornell Street yard and started prep work for the C9 bridge timbers.

On Saturday, George Peck and Derek Stapleton opened up the phoenicia yard, digging the tracks out of the snow.


Sunday, February 13th:

From Mark Glaser: "On Sunday in Kingston, snow was cleared from the yard and around the south and west entrance gates. Later in the day, measurements were taken at several points on C-9 to insure accuracy of the bridge timber notch cuts. Today's crew consisted of Earl Pardini, George Peck, and Mark Glaser."

Saturday, February 19th

On Saturday, George peck led a crew consisting of Derek Stapleton, Jason DiTolla and Mike Adsit. They worked in and around the yard in poor weather conditions.


Sunday, February 20th.

On Sunday, Earl Pardini led a crew in Kingston consisting of Mark Glaser, Bob Blake, Ernie Kloppng, Peter Fluchere, Mike LaLonde, Walt Otto, Anthony Gambino and George Peck. They notched about a dozen bridge timbers for Bridge C9, and finished setting up a rig to increase cutting pace.
