I sent this as a reply to a previous post, but wanted to start a new post to extend a larger welcome to anyone coming to Scranton next week! Please let me know if I can be of any assistance for your trip.

Welcome to Scranton!

For those of you coming to Scranton next week, I just wanted to take a quick moment to welcome you and introduce myself. I am the General Manager at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel. Even if you are not staying with us, I would encourage you to still come see this beautifully transformed station, formerly the D.L.&W Station designed by Kenneth Murchison.

I thank the prior post as already commenting on our lunch buffet in the Grand Station Lobby ... Thanks!..lol. We take a lot of pride in our restaurant operations. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are all served in our Lobby (restaurant is called Carmen's). Open to the public, so please do join us. Your schedule looks extremely exciting and busy next week. If you are running late we have another restaurant and comfortable lounge called Trax, which is the former loading platform of the station. Our kitchen is open until midnight if you are running late!

If this is your first visit, you will truly enjoy Scranton as it is a wonderful success story of a city resurrecting again after a boom time. Also a very safe city to walk around and enjoy.

I look forward to meeting so many of you next week!

The comment was well earned. Your lunch buffet, as well as events for Steamtown have always been primo.

Until the late 90's, I worked nearby and was able to indulge more regularly-even so, in the intervening years the food has maintained its quality and select maintaining a reasonable price in all my less frequent visits.

Love the hotel & Sunday brunch. My wife & I stayed there regularly until smoking rooms were no longer available. We now stay elsewhere.

Here's a photo of the Hotel Hub in Scranton for the convention.

I would also like to welcome conventioneers to Scranton, to Steamtown, and to the convention. I hope to make good use of my time at Trax at the Radisson during the convention.
PJ's 1910 pub at the Hilton ain't so bad either!

On behalf of the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society, I would also like to welcome those of you coming to Scranton. Our Nickel Plate Road 10-6 sleeping car, the "City of Lima", will be one of the first class cars on the Sunbury and Delaware Water Gap trips. This car was often car 70 and car 80 providing Hoboken to Chicago accommodations on the DL&W/Nickel Plate trains the "Westerner" and the "New Yorker" - thus those of you riding this car on the Water Gap trip will have the unique experience of riding the car as it travels over a portion of its original revenue service route.

We also own two original Erie Lackawanna dining cars (one Erie, the other Lackawanna) that we are restoring so that we can recreate dinner in the diner along this route as it would have been done on the EL. We will be set up on Monday and Friday in the Hilton. Please stop by and say hello and see some of our dining car products.
