Post subject:  Public Hearing: Changes to Washington, DC Union Station

From http://www.usrcdc.com/notice.php

Quote:
The Union Station Redevelopment Corporation (USRC), on behalf of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), is seeking comments regarding plans to alter the Main Hall of Union Station. Proposed renovations include penetrating the floor in the location of the existing Center Café in order to install new stairs and elevators to improve pedestrian flow and enhance sightlines. The existing Center Café is also proposed for replacement.

The initial consultation meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Friday, June 18, 2010 in the Columbus Club at Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Avenue, N.E., Washington, DC 20002.

The public meeting will consist of a presentation of the concept drawings and an opportunity to discuss the project with USRC and Union Station Investco staff. Please RSVP on the USRC website, http://www.usrcdc.com.

I have seen some renderings of the proposed changes. IMHO the initial designs were not very compatible with the original architecture. Local RyPN'ers with some free time may want to attend the hearing.
