This came through on my Flickr feed. I thought she was sold, donated, traded, or something of the sort? They have done wonders with geared steam and a maybe a new home would be best for her.

If someone does get it,I hope they would restore it as original like the ex-U.S. Army 2-8-0 in the United Kingdom. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 088&nseq=1

She has been sold and will be trucked out after the tourist season ends sometime in November.

Who bought it and what are their intentions?
And.. how did it end up at Cass?

As per Steam Loco Directory of North America by J. David Conrad, the loco was supposed donated by the U.S. Army (from its former home at Fort Eustis, Va.) to the State of West Va. in 1971. Why or how, I don't know. Cass was basically the only railroad property West Va. had at the time.

Robert Franzen bought it. Not sure what his intentions are for it once he gets it out.

She was to be used on the Greenbrier line from Cass to Durbin pulling excursions. A drop pit was even installed in the Cass shop for her. The flood of '85 ended all hope of that happening.
